About Us
Founded in 1924, the Westport Garden Club (Westport, CT) is a 501C3 non-profit organization, consisting of 60 members united by an interest in gardening and a desire to learn and share their knowledge with others.
The mission of the Westport Garden Club is:
To further members’ interest in and knowledge of gardening, horticulture, and flower design.
To participate in civic beautification.
To promote conservation and environmental education.
Affiliated with the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc., and National Garden Clubs, Inc., we support the beautification and sustainability of Westport through the maintenance of several public gardens, and special projects, and offer support to civic organizations that share our cornerstone values of education, conservation, preservation, and beautification.
Public Meetings & Events
Westport Garden Club Meetings are generally held the 2nd Thursday of the month at St. Luke Church in Westport. Our meetings start with a business meeting at 12:45 pm followed by the program at approximately 1:30 pm.

The 2027 Youth Poetry Contest!
WESTPORT YOUTH INVITED TO SUBMIT ORIGINAL POEMS CELEBRATING AMERICA’S 250th Celebration
The Westport Garden Club, in partnership with the Westport Arts Advisory Committee, Westport’s Poet Laureate, and the Westport Library is thrilled to announce the 6th Annual Westport Youth Poetry Contest.
The 2026 contest invites Westport’s young creatives to capture the spirit, history, and beauty of our nation’s historic milestone through this year National Youth Poetry Contest theme: CELEBRATE AMERICA’S 250TH BIRTHDAY WITH RED, WHITE, AND BLUE.
The annual local competition, affiliated with the National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) and the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut (FGCCT), aims to ignite self-expression, build confidence, and inspire students to explore their world through the powerful art of poetry.
The 2025 contest, Plant America for The Next 100 Years, brought home state and, regional and National acclaim, and the WGC is eager to see the talent Westport’s students will bring to the page this season. Five entries from Westport were selected by the State Committee and won First Place in their grade at the state level to advance to The New England Garden Clubs regional contest, with Westport Grade 6 student, Stevie D, receiving Honorable Mention in the National Contest.
